Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Covet (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our iOS app and website.

Account data

We use Clerk to manage authentication. When you sign up, Clerk stores your email, phone number, password (if you set one), and Clerk-issued session cookies. We mirror your username, name, and onboarding choices in our own database.

Content you save

When you save a product URL we fetch the page server-side, extract product metadata, and rehost the product image to our own storage so the image stays available even if the retailer takes it down.

AI-assisted features

When you use visual search, gift ideas, or other AI-assisted features, we may send the image you select, the text you enter, and relevant Covet context such as visible products, lists, and profile details to AI service providers such as Anthropic to generate results. We use those responses to power the feature you requested, not to sell your personal information or target ads.

Retailer and affiliate links

Covet may provide links that take you to third-party retailer websites. Some outbound shopping links may be routed through affiliate partners so Covet can understand click performance and may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. Affiliate partners and destination retailers may receive attribution details such as the source page, outbound link, destination URL, timestamp, device or browser information, IP address, and partner identifiers. We do not send affiliate partners your email address, phone number, saved gift prompts, private profile data, or raw personal identifiers as part of those links.

Retailer checkout, payment, shipping, returns, and any purchase account you create with a retailer are handled by that retailer under its own privacy policy and terms.

Analytics

We use PostHog and Sentry to understand how the product is used and to track errors. Both providers may set first-party cookies. PostHog distinct IDs are randomly generated until you sign up, at which point we alias them to your account so we can attribute pre-signup pageviews to your eventual account.

Image hosting

Product images are stored in Cloudflare R2. We do not embed third-party tracking pixels in our product surfaces.

Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. When you do, we permanently remove your profile, posts, lists, likes, and relationships from our database, and revoke your Clerk session.
